Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join the Upington team. You will design and develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts for power distribution, control, and automation systems, ensuring robust, compliant designs.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN, and a strong grasp of electrical codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical systems design.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices in system design.
• Experience with low voltage and medium voltage systems is essential.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts for power distribution, control, and automation systems.
• Specify electrical components, equipment, and materials, ensuring compatibility and adherence to project requirements.
• Conduct electrical load calculations, voltage drop studies, and short-circuit analysis.
• Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including technical specifications, bill of materials, and installation instructions.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure integrated and effective system designs.
• Provide technical support during the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.
