Placements24 seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for automation solutions in Kimberley. You will design and implement electrical control systems for mining equipment, leading projects from concept through commissioning.

Expect hands-on CAD work, PLC/HMI design, and integration with IT and machinery. You will oversee vendor selection, ensure MHSA compliance, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
• Minimum 8 years in electrical design with a focus on industrial automation.
• Experience in mining sector and MHSA safety standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and specification of control systems for mining equipment and processes.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, control panel designs and wiring diagrams using CAD.
• Specify PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs, and select automation components.
• Oversee integration of electrical systems with mechanical/IT infrastructure.
• Conduct site inspections and support installation, commissioning, and testing.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and automation issues during projects and operations.
• Ensure designs comply with MHSA and industry standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
