Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement electrical power systems including distribution networks, substations, and protection schemes.
• Conduct load flow, short circuit, and stability studies using industry-standard software.
• Prepare design documentation: single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring layouts, and specs.
• Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and project teams for seamless integration.
• Perform site surveys, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international standards and regulations.
• Review and approve drawings and vendor documents.
• Manage project timelines and budgets for electrical components.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and implementing electrical power systems, including distribution networks, substations, and protection schemes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on power systems engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as ETAP, PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis, protection coordination, and equipment specifications.
• Experience with HV/MV/LV distribution systems and substations.
• Strong understanding of relevant industry standards (e.g., SANS, IEC, IEEE).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas.
