Qualifications

• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA or eligibility is highly advantageous.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the industrial sector, is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Electrical Infrastructure Engineer to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical electrical systems across their facilities in Bloemfontein, Free State . This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of high-voltage distribution, substations, and power quality management. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our electrical infrastructure, which is vital to our ongoing operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a proven track record in managing large-scale projects, and the ability to mentor a team of talented engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and execution of electrical infrastructure projects, including new installations and upgrades of substations, switchgear, and distribution networks.
• Develop and implement strategies for optimizing power quality, energy efficiency, and system reliability across all facilities.
• Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and testing programs for all electrical equipment and systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of electrical engineers and technicians.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for electrical system hazards.
• Liaise with external contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless project delivery and compliance.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and maintenance manuals.
• Investigate and resolve complex electrical system faults and failures, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Stay updated on technological advancements and best practices in electrical infrastructure engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on industrial power systems and infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience in the design and management of high-voltage distribution systems, substations, and protection schemes.
• Proven ability to lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Strong knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., SANS, IEC, IEEE).
• Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with ECSA or eligibility for registration is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and on-site responsibilities.
