Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Drilling Supervisor to oversee rig operations from Stellenbosch with hybrid office/remote duties. You will lead crews, manage safety, and optimize drilling campaigns across offshore and onshore sites in South Africa.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in drilling operations, including 5 years in supervision, IWCF Level 3 or 4, and strong leadership capabilities. Rotation schedules and travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of drilling operations experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory role.
• IWCF Level 3 or 4 certification is essential.
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
• Extensive knowledge of drilling equipment, fluids and well-control procedures.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental performance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct all drilling operations on the rig floor, ensuring adherence to drilling programs and safety procedures.
• Lead drilling crews including toolpushers, drillers and floorhands.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of drilling equipment and machinery.
• Monitor drilling parameters and wellbore conditions, making adjustments as necessary.
• Troubleshoot drilling problems and implement effective solutions.
• Conduct pre-spud meetings and daily safety meetings with the rig crew.
• Oversee inventory and maintenance of drilling supplies and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company HSE policies.
• Prepare daily drilling reports and communicate status to management.
• Mentor and train junior drilling personnel.
