Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of offshore drilling operations, ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.
• Manage and mentor drilling crews, fostering a strong safety culture and promoting teamwork.
• Monitor drilling performance, interpret well logs, and make necessary adjustments to drilling parameters.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement procedures to minimize impact.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of drilling equipment and machinery.
• Manage drilling fluid systems, cementing operations, and well control procedures.
• Coordinate with other offshore and onshore departments, including HSE, engineering, and logistics.
• Conduct pre-spud meetings and ensure all personnel are familiar with the well program and safety procedures.
• Manage inventory of drilling supplies and equipment, ensuring timely replenishment.
• Prepare daily drilling reports and incident reports as required.

Requirements

• A degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in offshore drilling operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Valid IWCF Level 4 certification (Drilling Control) is mandatory.
• Extensive knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, well control, and safety procedures.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate diverse crews.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management abilities.
• Strong understanding of offshore HSE regulations and best practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure offshore environment with demanding schedules.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Must be physically fit and able to pass offshore medical examinations.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to **Cape Town, Western Cape**.
