Job summary

GPW in Pretoria seeks a Deputy Director to lead sourcing and procurement, asset management, and inventory control within a large public sector department. The role requires an extensive background in supply chain, finance, and governance frameworks.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with PFMA, GRAP, and government budgeting processes while driving continuous improvement and risk management across the directorate. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 plus a Degree (NQF level 7) in Supply Chain/ Purchasing/ Logistics Management/ Finance/ Public Management/ Public Administration.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience at middle/senior level (Deputy Director) in a Supply Chain Management environment.
• CIPS certificate will be an added advantage.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Working knowledge of tender procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing and procurement services in the Department with emphasis on value for money and ethics.
• Ensure timely information to suppliers and compliance with procurement legislation.
• Monitor the approved procurement plan and asset management/disposal processes.
• Oversee inventory control, general ledger reconciliations and fixed asset depreciation.
• Ensure PFMA, Treasury Regulations and GRAP compliance and prevent financial misconduct.
• Lead the Directorate by planning, budgeting, and performance reporting.
