Job summary

SMEC invites applications for a Senior Digital Delivery Technician based in Durban. The role focuses on complex design modelling, BIM implementation and technical support across projects.

You will drive accuracy in modelling with Revit, Civil 3D and Bentley, and mentor junior staff while aligning drawings to project standards and client requirements. You will develop Autodesk templates, support automation and maintain quality across all documentation.

Qualifications

• Professional Registration in drawing/ modelling (Autodesk certification preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years in similar position
• Some key experience in relevant projects
• Proficiency in Autodesk, Bentley or discipline specific software essential

Responsibilities

• Modelling and detailing Revit, C3D and Bentley implementation for team
• Develop Autodesk templates/ Libraries and tools to maintain standards
• Programming within Autodesk (Visual Coding/Automation)
• Quality audit on outgoing drawings
• Standardisation of all drawings on project
• Visualization of 3D models of projects for presentations

• Handling all Autodesk troubleshooting and setting up of interfaces in respective department
• Mentor, train and provide technical support to junior staff
• Conducting conceptual and detailed design and modelling to prepare technical drawings and documentation
• Provide practical and economical solutions to project deliverables
• Applying deeper understanding of modelling principles to deliver practical solutions
• Maintain a high level of Modelling expertise and engineering knowledge
• Undertake supervisor role and lead on projects
• Contribute to overall management and profitability of the group
• Ensure drawings and documentation are of highest quality
• Maintain client satisfaction
• Introduce Graduate Engineers to in-house standards and tasks
• Assist Project Managers with site queries and reporting solutions

REPORTS TO Section Manager or other professional consultant or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.

PRIMARY POSITION PURPOSE Provide and undertake complex design modelling tasks, prepare tender/construction documents, provide technical support services in meeting the requirements of the functional group and its clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
