Job summary

First Point Group in Johannesburg is seeking a hands-on DevOps engineer to design, maintain and optimise cloud infrastructure, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and work closely with technical teams.

You will implement IaC, manage Linux administration, and monitor systems with ELK/OpenSearch, Docker, Kubernetes, and related technologies. Experience in Agile environments is valued and migration of PayFast to Kubernetes noted.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Design, maintain and optimise cloud infrastructure.
• IaC with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef or SaltStack.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including migrations.
• Experience with Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, PHP, Java or Go.
• Load balancing and networking experience.
• Database experience with MySQL/MariaDB and cloud databases.
• Redis, MongoDB, queues and replication technologies.
• Experience working in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain and optimise cloud infrastructure.

• Migrate PayFast to Kubernetes.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code.
• Linux administration and complex troubleshooting.
