Job summary

Sabenza It & Recruitment is seeking a DevOps Engineer to bridge software development and IT operations, automating and optimizing the delivery lifecycle.

You will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage AWS-based infrastructure, monitor performance, and ensure reliability, security, and scalability through IaC. Collaboration with development, testing, and operations teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Matric Certification and a Bachelors (RHCE / ISO 27001/PCI) is a plus but not required
• High level of proficiency in Linux based OS
• Cloud Infrastructure (AWS) Associated Certified is a must have
• Pipelines (Jenkins/Gitlab Ci)
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, Java, Go or similar
• Proven IaC experience with SaltStack, Chef, Ansible, Puppet or Terraform
• Load Balancers experience
• Knowledge of AWS RDS/MariaDB and MySQL
• NoSQL DBs Redis/Mongo, pub/sub and key/value stores
• Networking knowledge: OSI, AWS TGW, basic on-prem OSI
• Experience with RabbitMQ or similar queues

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain procedures to comply with security policies and IT best practices
• Develop and maintain documentation of systems configurations and procedures
• Monitor systems via applications, log files, Elk/OpenSearch and sanity checks
• Actively work on building and migrating PayFast to Kubernetes
• Maintain our configuration and build management systems
• Database maintenance and implementations
• Serve as an escalation point to resolve problems in Servers and users' environment
• Work closely with technical team members (cultural fit)
• Must be able to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively
• Research and evaluation of new technologies for our environment

A DevOps Engineer is responsible for bridging the gap between software development and IT operations by automating, streamlining, and improving the software delivery lifecycle. They design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud infrastructure, monitor system performance, and ensure application reliability, scalability, and security. DevOps Engineers collaborate closely with development, testing, and operations teams to enable faster deployments, reduce downtime, and enhance overall system efficiency through automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
