Placements24 is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Upington team. You will bridge software development and IT operations, automating build, test, deployment, and operational tasks in an on-site setting.

You’ll design scalable CI/CD pipelines, implement IaC practices, and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS/Azure/GCP. Strong Linux and scripting skills, plus collaboration with dev and QA, are essential for reliable releases.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or system administration role.
• Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Familiarity with operating systems, particularly Linux.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with microservices architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Manage and automate cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security, and implement proactive measures to ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the development, testing, and production environments.
• Implement and manage containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure smooth software releases.
• Establish and enforce best practices for version control, configuration management, and deployment.
• Optimize infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive operational tasks.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems.
• Document infrastructure, processes, and configurations.
