Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to optimize our software development lifecycle with robust CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure management. The role supports remote work or an Upington, Northern Cape office, and emphasizes cloud platforms, containerization, and automation to enable rapid, reliable software delivery.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in DevOps, strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell), and expertise across AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD, or systems administration.
• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for multiple app types.
• Strong skills with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and services.
• Expertise in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement and manage IaC using Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
• Automate deployment, scaling, and management on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and maintain containerization strategies with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve reliability.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting systems.
• Collaborate with development/QA to troubleshoot releases.
• Enforce security best practices across the DevOps pipeline.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps adoption in Upington.
