Placements24 is seeking aSenior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics in the mining sector, leveraging datasets from exploration to processing. This fully remote role focuses on building sophisticated models to predict trends, optimize efficiency, and reduce costs while ensuring safety.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior scientists, and drive data-informed decision-making across the organization, using Python/R, ML frameworks, and cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (Data Science, Statistics, CS)
• 7+ years of professional data science or ML experience
• Proficiency in Python or R and SQL
• Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
• Experience with Spark, Hadoop and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Strong problem-solving and data-driven insight skills in mining industry

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ML models for predictive maintenance, process optimization, and resource forecasting
• Analyze large, complex datasets from sensors, geological surveys, and production logs
• Design and execute experiments to validate hypotheses and measure impact
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and operations teams to identify business problems and opportunities
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's technical roadmap
