Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer for a remote-first role within South Africa. You will design, implement, and manage security controls across IT infrastructure, respond to incidents, and collaborate with a global team to protect assets.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cybersecurity, knowledge of NIST/ISO27001, experience with SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and scripting in Python/PowerShell. This remote position offers flexible hours and opportunities for certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, IT or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
• Experience with SIEM, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, and EDR.
• Knowledge of NIST/ISO 27001 frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across IT infrastructure.
• Develop and execute security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Conduct security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning.
• Respond to security incidents and perform forensic analysis when needed.
• Develop security awareness training programs for employees.
• Monitor security systems and networks for suspicious activity.
• Implement security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and EDR.
• Collaborate with IT teams to embed security in system design.
• Stay up-to-date with cybersecurity threats and technologies.
