Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Risk Manager for a leading financial services institution based in Centurion, Gauteng. You will identify, assess, and mitigate enterprise-wide risks, and lead the development of risk frameworks and governance processes.

You will mentor a team, report to senior management and the board, and ensure compliance with Solvency II, Basel III where applicable, COSO and ISO 31000. The role offers a hybrid work model and strong career progression.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in risk management, preferably within financial services or insurance.
• Postgraduate degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Professional certifications such as CRM, FRM, or PRM are highly advantageous.
• In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, frameworks (COSO, ISO 31000) and regulatory requirements (Solvency II, Basel III if applicable).
• Proven experience developing and implementing risk strategies and conducting risk assessments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage a team and influence change across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the enterprise-wide risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
• Identify, assess, and monitor key risks across all business units including market, credit, operational, and compliance risks.
• Design and execute risk assessment methodologies such as RCSAs and scenario analyses.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies with business stakeholders.
• Prepare risk reports for senior management, the board, and regulators.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations governing financial services and insurance.
• Lead and mentor a team of risk professionals and foster a risk-aware culture.
• Conduct independent reviews of processes and controls for adequacy and effectiveness.
• Stay updated on emerging risks and regulatory changes impacting the sector.
