Placements24 is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer to lead design, implementation, and optimization of control systems for complex industrial processes. This remote role enables you to influence plant performance from anywhere in South Africa.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering and 7+ years of experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and instrumentation technologies. Strong leadership and remote collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

This position requires extensive expertise in process control, instrumentation technology, and automation platforms. Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and implement instrumentation and control systems for industrial processes, including DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems.
• Develop and optimize control strategies, algorithms, and logic to enhance process efficiency, safety, and product quality.
• Conduct root cause analysis for instrumentation and control system failures and implement corrective actions.
• Manage instrumentation and control project phases, from conceptual design through to commissioning and ongoing support.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements for all control systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians involved in instrumentation and control projects.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 7 years of progressive experience in instrumentation and control engineering within process industries.
• In-depth knowledge of various instrumentation technologies (e.g., flow, pressure, temperature, level sensors) and control valves.
• Expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) from major vendors.
• Experience with process modeling and simulation tools is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex projects in a remote, collaborative setting.
