Placements24 seeks a Control Systems Chemical Engineer for an advanced manufacturing facility in Nelspruit (Mbombela). You will design, implement, and optimize automated control systems for chemical processes, working with process engineers and operations teams to improve plant performance.

Responsibilities include configuring DCS/PLC systems, developing APC strategies, specifying instrumentation, and ensuring safety and reliability through robust control solutions.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a strong process focus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial process control and automation.
• Proficiency with major DCS platforms (Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell).
• Strong understanding of process dynamics, instrumentation, and control theory.
• Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) is a plus.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Develop and implement advanced process control (APC) strategies to optimize plant performance.
• Specify and select control instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, control valves).
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
• Collaborate with process engineers to define control requirements and logic.
• Ensure that all control systems meet safety, reliability, and performance standards.
