Placements24 is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee all construction contracts around Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role blends office oversight with site engagement, focusing on drafting, reviewing, and managing contract risk and compliance across projects.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in contract management within construction, with deep knowledge of FIDIC/JBCC/NEC, and strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Law, QS, Construction Management).
• Minimum 10 years experience in contract management within construction.
• Strong knowledge of standard forms (FIDIC, JBCC, NEC).
• Proven negotiation, drafting and contract administration experience.
• Understanding of project lifecycles and commercial processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
• Familiarity with contract management software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, subcontracts, and service agreements.
• Manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and advise on contractor selection.
• Administer contracts through their lifecycle, including variations, claims, and disputes.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, conditions and legislation.
• Coordinate with legal, project managers, and stakeholders on contractual matters.
• Develop and implement contract management strategies and procedures.
• Monitor performance and identify risks and opportunities.
• Prepare reports on contract status, risks and financial implications.
• Conduct contract close-out activities and final accounts.
