Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Construction Planner based in Paarl, Western Cape. The role involves developing, monitoring, and updating complex project schedules for diverse construction projects, in collaboration with project managers, engineers, and site teams.

You will analyze scope, resources, and timelines to establish realistic schedules, monitor progress, and prepare regular reports. A strong background in Primavera P6/MS Project and SA construction practices is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in construction planning and scheduling.
• Proven proficiency in advanced scheduling software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and critical path analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse project stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in schedule development.
• Experience in a variety of construction project types is an advantage.
• Familiarity with South African construction industry practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed master schedules and look-ahead programs for construction projects using planning software.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to gather information for schedule development and updates.
• Analyze project scope, specifications, and resource requirements to establish realistic construction timelines.
• Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule, identifying potential delays and deviations.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports, highlighting critical path activities and potential risks.
• Update project schedules based on site progress, changes, and unforeseen circumstances.
• Assist in the development of recovery plans to address schedule slippage.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Contribute to risk management by identifying schedule-related risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation related to scheduling and progress tracking.
