Job summary

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand is seeking an Operational Compliance Manager to lead the group’s compliance framework and monitoring across operations. You will advise on regulatory matters, embed a culture of compliance, and collaborate with the Finance team to ensure governance, ethics, and policy alignment.

The role requires deep knowledge of regulatory requirements, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage investigations and remediation programmes within a healthcare/retail

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in law, compliance, risk management, or related field.
• 5–7 years in compliance, risk, legal, internal audit or governance roles.
• Experience with compliance or GRC systems.
• Advantage: healthcare/retail/listed environments with regulatory frameworks.
• Experience developing compliance frameworks and monitoring programmes.
• Experience engaging regulators, auditors and governance committees.
• Experience managing investigations, inspections and remediation programmes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the Group compliance framework, policies and procedures.
• Ensure regulatory obligations are identified and mapped into business activities.
• Maintain oversight of the Compliance universe and alignment with legislation and governance.
• Update group-wide policies including Code of Conduct and ethics policies.
• Ensure policies align to regulatory requirements and risk appetite.
• Provide guidance to business units on compliance standards.
• Build a strong compliance culture as trusted advisor to first line with second-line oversight.
• Develop and manage a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan across operations.
• Coordinate second line reviews to assess adherence to requirements.
• Review outputs, escalate key risks and track remediation actions.
• Oversee investigations, remediation and closure of non-compliance across units.
• Prepare and present compliance reports to management and governance structures.
• Support audits with required documentation and context.
