Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Handler specializing in Commercial Property to join our claims department in Sandton, Gauteng. You will manage a portfolio of complex property claims from inception to settlement, applying knowledge of policy wordings, loss adjusting principles and SA legislation.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification such as Diploma in Insurance, Law or Property Studies or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience handling commercial property insurance claims.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial property policies, building construction and loss assessment.
• Strong understanding of SA insurance law and claims handling best practices.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex commercial property claims from inception to settlement.
• Investigate claim circumstances, including site visits and evidence gathering.
• Assess property damage and business interruption losses.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders and legal counsel.
• Appoint and manage external adjusters and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements and company claims philosophy.
• Provide clear communication to policyholders and stakeholders throughout the process.
• Identify subrogation or fraud indicators and take appropriate action.
• Mentor and support junior claims handlers within the team.
