Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to spearhead urban development projects in Soweto and surrounding areas, focusing on roads, services and public spaces. You will work with local authorities, developers, and community stakeholders to deliver projects that enhance life quality and economic opportunities.

You will lead design, manage infrastructure programs end-to-end, and provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians while ensuring compliance with regulations and safety

Qualifications

• BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer or Technologist.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in civil engineering, particularly urban development.
• Experience managing infrastructure projects end‑to‑end.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of municipal standards and land development processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure for urban renewal and new development projects.
• Plan and implement roads, services (water, sewer, stormwater), and site development works.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and prepare detailed engineering reports.
• Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to design standards, budgets, and timelines.
• Coordinate with municipal departments, utility providers, and other consultants.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of civil engineers and technicians.
