Placements24 is assisting a client in Sandton to hire a Senior Civil Engineer to lead urban development projects from their office in Sandton. You will design and oversee infrastructure components for new urban areas, including transport, water and sanitation, and coordinate with planners, architects and engineers.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering, is Pr.Eng. with ECSA, and brings 9+ years' experience managing complex urban infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is required.
• 9+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in urban development.
• Experience managing complex projects end-to-end.
• Proficiency in CAD and engineering design tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil engineering design for urban development projects (sites, roads, utilities, drainage).
• Conduct feasibility studies, site analysis, and impact assessments.
• Prepare designs, specifications, and tender docs for infrastructure components.
• Oversee procurement and construction phases, ensuring quality and timelines.
• Coordinate with town planners, environmental consultants, and architects.
• Ensure compliance with municipal bylaws, national standards, and environmental legislation.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead urban development projects from their office in Sandton . This role is critical for designing and overseeing the infrastructure components of new urban areas, including integrated transport systems, water, and sanitation services. You will play a key role in shaping sustainable and functional urban environments, working closely with urban planners, architects, and other specialists. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the civil engineering design for comprehensive urban development projects, encompassing site development, roads, utilities, and drainage.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site analysis, and impact assessments for proposed developments.
• Prepare detailed designs, specifications, and tender documentation for infrastructure components.
• Oversee the procurement and construction phases, ensuring adherence to design standards, quality, and timelines.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including town planners, environmental consultants, and architects.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant municipal bylaws, national standards, and environmental legislation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering .
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr.Eng. is required.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in civil engineering , with a strong focus on urban development and infrastructure.
• Proven experience in managing complex projects from conceptualization through to completion.
• Proficiency in CAD software and relevant engineering design and analysis tools.
