Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Civil Design Manager in Sandton to lead the civil design division for urban planning and development initiatives. You will guide a team of engineers and designers, defining technical directions and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of infrastructure solutions.

You will shape design standards, mentor staff, and collaborate with clients and consultants to integrate design outcomes across roads, utilities, and public spaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum 12 years in civil engineering design with 5+ years in a management/leadership role.
• Proven track record leading design teams on large-scale urban development projects.
• Experience with civil design software and project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the civil design team, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Oversee the design process for urban development projects (roads, utilities, public spaces).
• Ensure design quality and compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Manage project design schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with clients, town planners, architects, and other consultants to integrate design solutions.
• Develop and implement design best practices and innovative engineering approaches.
