Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with extensive mining infrastructure experience to lead design and delivery of civil works. You will manage access roads, plant foundations, tailings dams, and water systems, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and on-time execution.

You will guide a team of engineers and technicians, oversee budgets and schedules, liaise with mine operations, contractors, and regulators, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Master's degree in Geotechnical or Mining Engineering is highly desirable.
• Minimum 8 years in civil engineering with at least 5 years in mining infrastructure.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Experience in earthworks, tailings dams, and mining structures is essential.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer and geotechnical software.

Our client, a leading engineering services provider to the mining sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer for their operations in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is pivotal for the design, development, and management of civil infrastructure critical to mining operations, including access roads, plant sites, tailings dams, and water management systems. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of the mining environment, coupled with strong project management skills. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance of all civil works. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Professional registration as a Pr. Eng with ECSA is mandatory.
• Proven experience in the design of earthworks, tailings dams, and mining-related structures.
• Proficiency in relevant civil engineering design and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer, geotechnical software).
• Strong understanding of mining processes, operational constraints, and environmental management in the mining sector.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in the Upington, Northern Cape region and potentially travel to various mine locations.
