Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineer for an on-site role in Upington, Northern Cape. You will design and manage infrastructure projects, conduct site investigations, and ensure compliance with South African standards.

You will lead technical design, supervise construction, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver roads, water and drainage works across the Northern Cape region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Tech Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with infrastructure focus.
• Proven experience in designing and managing road, water, and sanitation projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit or similar software.
• Strong understanding of South African engineering standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop plans for civil infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, water systems, wastewater).
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specs, and cost estimates using CAD software.
• Oversee construction, providing technical guidance to site teams and contractors.
• Monitor progress, quality, and safety per project plans and specs.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and respond to site queries.
• Manage budgets and timelines, identifying risks and mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, and other stakeholders.
