Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for our client in Pretoria, Gauteng, to oversee the planning, design and execution of major energy infrastructure projects, including power generation facilities and substations.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in civil engineering with a strong focus on infrastructure, Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA, and proven project management experience. A Master's degree is advantageous, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's is advantageous.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• 8+ years in civil engineering, focused on energy-sector infrastructure.
• Experience in project management including planning, scheduling and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure for energy projects, including foundations, earthworks, drainage systems, and structural elements.
• Manage project lifecycles from feasibility studies through detailed design to construction supervision and handover.
• Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineers, external consultants and contractors.
• Ensure designs and construction activities comply with national and international standards, codes, and regulations.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, contract documents, and tender evaluations.
• Oversee site investigations, surveys, and technical assessments.
• Monitor progress, schedules, and budgets; manage risks and change control.
• Identify and mitigate civil-related project risks and issues.
• Review and approve construction plans and method statements; provide guidance to junior staff.
