Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join our client’s Benoni operations. The role features a hybrid work setup and demands leadership in design, scale-up, and optimization of complex chemical processes.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive safety and regulatory compliance, and push for continuous improvement across projects and technology implementations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering, design and optimization.
• Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects and leading technical teams.
• Expertise in process simulation, P&IDs, and PFD development.
• Knowledge of process safety management (PSM), HAZOP, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, scale-up, and implementation of new chemical processes and modifications to existing ones.
• Conduct detailed process simulations, modeling, and techno-economic analyses.
• Troubleshoot complex process issues and develop innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
• Manage capital projects, from conception and feasibility studies through to commissioning and handover.
• Ensure all process designs meet stringent safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards.
• Mentor and guide junior process engineers, fostering a high-performance team culture.
