Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Process Engineer for a hybrid role in Vereeniging. You will optimize chemical processes, ensure safety, and contribute to continuous improvement of production operations, working with production teams and management to troubleshoot issues and drive process innovations.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background with at least 4 years of experience in chemical manufacturing and a solid grasp of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and process simulation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Process Engineer in a chemical manufacturing or similar industrial setting.
• Solid understanding of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with safety standards and environmental regulations in the chemical industry.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield, quality, and efficiency.
• Design and implement process improvements, including equipment modifications and automation solutions.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and batch records.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with research and development teams on new product introductions and process scale-up.
