Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Control & Automation Engineer to join our client’s team in Mahikeng, North West. You will design, implement, and maintain advanced control systems for chemical processing facilities, optimizing performance, efficiency, and product quality.

The ideal candidate has a chemical or electrical engineering background, 5+ years in process control, and hands-on experience with DCS (Honeywell Experion, DeltaV), PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens), and SCADA/HMI.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemical or electrical engineering with a focus on control systems.
Minimum 5 years' experience in process control and automation in manufacturing.
Proven experience with DCS and PLC programming (Honeywell/DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens).
Knowledge of SIS, IEC 61511, and instrumentation fundamentals.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement advanced process control strategies (PID, MPC) for chemical processes.
Configure, program, commission DCS/PLCs and SCADA systems.
Specify and integrate industrial instrumentation and sensors.
Develop automation software, including HMI screens and alarm management.
Troubleshoot control system issues and optimize loops for stability and efficiency.
Collaborate with process engineers to translate requirements into designs.
Ensure safety compliance and participate in PHAs from SIS perspective.
Provide training to operations and maintenance on control systems.
