Placements24 is assisting a prestigious engineering team in George, Western Cape, to recruit a Lead Structural Engineer. You will oversee bridge design, analysis, and construction support, ensuring safety, durability, and regulatory compliance across complex projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Structural Engineering or a closely related field.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering with bridge focus.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, MIDAS Civil).
• Thorough knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS) and other relevant codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and engineering efforts for major bridge projects.
• Perform complex structural analysis using state-of-the-art software and methodologies.
• Develop detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural components.
• Review and approve designs and calculations prepared by junior engineers and design teams.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and provide technical support.
• Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges during design and construction phases.
• Manage project engineering budgets and schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers, fostering technical excellence.
