Job summary
Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Boiler and Steam Systems Technician to support operations in Upington, Northern Cape. The role covers installation, maintenance, repair, and safe operation of industrial boilers, steam systems, and associated piping, with on-site work and occasional remote monitoring.
The ideal candidate has a trade qualification in mechanical fitting or boilermaking and at least 5 years in boiler maintenance, with strong knowledge of controls, water treatment, and safety
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience with industrial boilers and steam systems.
- Strong understanding of boiler controls, instrumentation and safety systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings, P&IDs and schematics.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair industrial boilers (fire-tube and water-tube).
- Service and troubleshoot steam generation systems and condensate/vent systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on boilers and piping.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, ASME codes and company policies.
- Diagnose boiler controls, safety devices and water treatment issues.
- Perform pressure testing and safety checks for boiler operations.
- Maintain detailed logs of inspections and maintenance actions.
- Assist with steam distribution system components (valves, traps, insulation).
- Respond to emergencies and perform repairs to restore operations.
- Provide technical support and training to plant operators on boiler operation and safety.
- Collaborate with site management and other technical teams in Upington area.
