Camunda is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, to own automated reliability testing and chaos engineering at Camunda 8. You’ll collaborate with QA and engineering, contribute to the team blog, and influence product direction through experiment results. This is a remote-first role with global impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering (Java).
• Proven drive to experiment and conduct automated reliability and chaos testing in distributed environments.
• Deep enthusiasm for improving performance and fault-tolerance in production systems.
• Autonomous, pragmatic problem-solving skills and ability to influence others.
• Willingness to use Camunda products and approach reliability from a user perspective.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute automated chaos experiments and reliability tests.
• Investigate and debug failures or performance regressions in Java-based products.
• Improve load testing, chaos engineering, and observability infrastructure.
• Introduce new tooling for reliability testing and drive measurable improvements.
• Collaborate with QA and engineering, sharing learnings and influencing roadmaps.
• Champion pragmatic, autonomous software design and learn new technologies.
