Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Production Engineer for their Johannesburg site to optimize manufacturing processes, drive efficiency, and uphold high quality standards on production lines. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role, preferably in automotive.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, automation, and control systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in CAD software and data analysis tools.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate across departments.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and refine manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
• Oversee production line operations, ensuring safety and quality control standards.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for production issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design and R&D teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
• Train and mentor junior engineering staff and production line operators.
• Manage equipment maintenance schedules and ensure optimal performance of machinery.
• Analyze production data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and bottlenecks.
• Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at the Johannesburg facility.
• Prepare detailed reports on production performance, project status, and operational metrics.
