Placements24 seeks a Senior Automotive Performance Engineer to join a fully remote engineering team. The role focuses on optimizing vehicle performance, including engine efficiency, handling dynamics, and driving experience, using cutting-edge simulation tools and real-world testing from a Johannesburg, ZA-based setup.

You will design and validate performance models, analyze data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement advanced control strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in automotive performance engineering or a closely related field.
• Proven expertise in vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, or aerodynamics simulation and testing.
• Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, Adams, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate complex performance models for automotive systems, including powertrain, chassis, and aerodynamics.
• Analyze simulation data and test results to identify performance improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of enhancements.
• Develop and implement advanced control strategies to improve dynamics, fuel efficiency, and emissions compliance.
• Utilize MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, Adams, and GT-SUITE for simulations and data analysis.
• Author technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
