Placements24 has partnered with a prestigious Randburg-based commercial law firm to recruit a Senior Associate for the Commercial Law department. The role focuses on managing complex corporate and commercial transactions, advising clients, and mentoring junior lawyers in a fully remote environment.

You will draft and negotiate sophisticated agreements, perform due diligence, and contribute to business development while upholding the highest professional standards.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with ≥6 years PQE in corporate/commercial law.
• Proven track record in significant commercial transactions and strategic advice.
• Strong knowledge of SA corporate and contract law.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work remotely and manage time independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, shareholder agreements, and financing documents.
• Provide expert legal advice to clients on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial disputes.
• Conduct thorough legal due diligence and risk assessments for transactions.
• Liaise effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and candidate attorneys.
• Stay abreast of legal developments and industry trends in commercial law.
• Contribute to the firm's business development efforts and knowledge management initiatives.
• Manage client relationships and ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
