Job summary

HR Genie in Durbanville, a boutique architectural practice, seeks a Professional Architectural Technologist to join their team in Cape Town. You will lead design development, technical documentation, and coordination from concept through completion for diverse projects.

Required qualifications include SACAP registration, a Diploma/degree in Architectural Technology, and 35 years post-registration experience, with strong drafting and communication skills. Proficiency in ArchiCAD is essential.

Qualifications

• Registered as a Professional Architectural Technologist with SACAP.
• National Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology or related qualification.
• 35 years' post-registration experience in an architectural practice.
• Proficient in ArchiCAD (essential), Twinmotion, CADDIE. Experience with additional architectural software advantageous.
• Must be able to produce a portfolio of evidence.
• Strong understanding of construction detailing and building methods.
• Knowledge of South African building regulations and municipal approval processes.
• Excellent technical drafting skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Team player with a collaborative and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop architectural drawings, plans, and technical documentation.
• Produce detailed construction drawings and specifications per project requirements.
• Assist with design development and technical execution of residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
• Ensure drawings comply with building regulations, SANS, and municipal requirements.
• Coordinate project information with architects, engineers, QS and consultants.
• Prepare documentation for municipal submissions and approvals.
• Participate in project meetings and liaise with clients, contractors and consultants.
• Maintain project documentation and drawing revisions throughout the lifecycle.
• Assist in resolving technical design challenges during construction.
• Ensure projects are delivered within deadlines with high quality.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, software developments and best practices.
