Placements24 is seeking a Lead Architect in George, Western Cape, to head environmental design initiatives for a respected architectural firm. You will lead projects across residential, commercial and public sectors with a strong emphasis on ecological sensitivity and energy efficiency.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture with specialization in Sustainable Design is required.
• Professional Architect (PrArch) registration with SACAP is mandatory.
• 10+ years of progressive architectural experience focusing on sustainable projects.
• Experience with green building certifications (e.g., Green Star SA, LEED).
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and environmental analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design direction and conceptualization of high-profile projects with a focus on sustainable principles.
• Manage and mentor architectural teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
• Develop and implement sustainable design strategies including energy modeling, material selection, and water conservation.
• Prepare and present design proposals, concept sketches, and detailed drawings to clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with SA building codes and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and contractors to integrate sustainable systems into designs.
• Conduct design reviews and site inspections to maintain design integrity.
• Research and advocate for innovative sustainable materials and technologies.
• Manage project resources, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
• Contribute to business development and firm reputation in sustainable architecture.
