Placements24 in Cape Town, Western Cape, invites a Lead Sustainable Architect to drive the design and implementation of eco-friendly building strategies across a diverse portfolio, from commercial complexes to residential developments.

You will lead teams, champion green building technologies, conduct lifecycle analyses, prepare sustainability reports and certifications (Green Star SA), and stay abreast of evolving regulations in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture with a specialization in Sustainable Design or Environmental Architecture.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in architectural practice, with at least 5 years focused on sustainable design leadership.
• Demonstrated expertise in green building rating systems (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Green Star SA).
• Advanced proficiency in BIM software (Revit) and energy modeling tools (e.g., IES VE, eQUEST).
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate design teams towards achieving sustainability goals.
• Strong understanding of local environmental regulations and planning policies in South Africa, particularly for Cape Town.
• Professional accreditation or certification in sustainable building design is highly desirable.

Responsabilités

• Champion and lead the integration of sustainable design principles and practices across all projects.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies for energy efficiency, water conservation, and material selection in architectural designs.
• Conduct thorough environmental impact assessments and lifecycle analyses for proposed developments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers and environmental consultants, to achieve optimal sustainable outcomes.
• Prepare comprehensive sustainable design reports, certifications (e.g., Green Star SA), and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in green building technologies, research, and policy.
• Manage project timelines and budgets specifically related to sustainable design initiatives.
• Mentor junior architects and designers on best practices in sustainable architecture within the Western Cape context.
