Placements24 is seeking a Senior Sustainable Design Architect for our George, Western Cape office. Lead the integration of sustainable design strategies across all project phases, advise on green building certifications, and mentor junior staff to elevate environmental performance.
The role emphasizes energy modeling, passive design, water conservation, and LCAs, collaborating with engineers to optimize building performance and renewable energy integration while ensuring compliance and occupant
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Architecture or related field with Sustainable Design specialization.
- 7+ years in architectural design; 4+ years in sustainable design/green consultancy.
- LEED AP or Green Star SA Assessor accreditation desired.
- Proficiency in architectural design software and sustainability analysis tools.
- Knowledge of green building rating systems and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience leading project teams on sustainability goals.
- Familiarity with Western Cape environmental context and regs.
Responsibilities
- Lead sustainable design integration across all project phases.
- Develop energy models, passive design and water strategies.
- Manage LEED/EDGE certification processes.
- Conduct LCAs and material research.
- Collaborate with engineers to optimize performance and renewables.
- Prepare sustainability reports and client docs.
- Mentor junior staff on sustainable design.
