Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Pharmaceutical Chemist for our Randburg facility. You will lead development, validation, and transfer of analytical methods (HPLC, GC, MS) for drug substances and finished products, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires an MSc or PhD and at least six years in pharmaceutical analytical development, with strong leadership, GMP experience, and ability to mentor junior staff while delivering multiple projects on time.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.
• ≥6 years of experience in pharmaceutical analytical development.
• Hands-on experience with HPLC, UPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
• Strong knowledge of method validation and ICH guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize analytical methods for drug substances and finished products.
• Validate methods according to ICH guidelines and regulatory expectations.
• Transfer methods to QC laboratories and CMOs.
• Characterize impurities and quantify quality attributes.
• Prepare validation reports and regulatory submission documents.
• Mentor junior chemists and ensure GMP compliance.
