About the Role

Our client, a renowned pharmaceutical research and development company, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Pharmaceutical Chemist to join their Analytical Development team in Randburg, Gauteng . In this critical role, you will lead the development, validation, and transfer of innovative analytical methods for new drug substances and finished products. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and optimization of analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, dissolution) for raw materials, intermediates, and finished drug products.
• Perform method validation according to ICH guidelines and regulatory expectations.
• Transfer analytical methods to Quality Control (QC) laboratories and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
• Characterize drug substances and impurities, identifying and quantifying critical quality attributes.
• Troubleshoot analytical challenges and provide solutions to ensure data integrity and product quality.
• Author and review method validation reports, analytical development reports, and regulatory submission documents.
• Stay current with scientific literature, new technologies, and regulatory trends in pharmaceutical analysis.
• Mentor and guide junior chemists in the analytical development group.
• Ensure all laboratory activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical analytical development.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with HPLC, UPLC, GC, MS, and various spectroscopic techniques.
• In‑depth knowledge of method validation principles and ICH guidelines.
• Experience with stability studies and impurity profiling.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
• Proven leadership and project management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
