About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their Quality Control and R&D laboratories in Sandton. This role is critical in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of our client's products through rigorous analytical testing and method development. You will be responsible for operating advanced analytical instrumentation, developing and validating new analytical methods, and interpreting complex data. This hybrid position offers the chance to work in a collaborative lab environment while maintaining flexibility. You will play a key part in maintaining high scientific standards and driving product excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine testing on a wide range of chemical and pharmaceutical samples.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation, ensuring calibration and performance.
• Interpret complex analytical data, troubleshoot method failures, and propose corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed analytical reports, documentation, and contribute to regulatory submissions.
• Mentor junior analytical chemists and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry , Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, preferably within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Extensive experience with HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, UV-Vis, FTIR, and other relevant analytical techniques.
• Strong understanding of method validation principles and regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in data analysis software and LIMS systems.
