Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Airworthiness Engineer for a prominent aerospace manufacturer in Tembisa, Gauteng. The role focuses on ensuring aircraft and components meet SACAA, EASA and FAA standards throughout their lifecycle.

You will develop certification plans, manage documentation, and liaise with aviation authorities, while coordinating with design, manufacturing and QA teams to sustain airworthiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years in aircraft design/modification with airworthiness focus.
• Deep knowledge of SACAA, EASA, FAA regulations and certification processes.
• Experience preparing and submitting certification docs to authorities.
• Strong understanding of aircraft systems, structures, engines, avionics.
• Excellent communication and liaison with regulators and teams.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply airworthiness regulations to aircraft designs and modifications.
• Review drawings, analyses, and test data for compliance with airworthiness requirements.
• Develop and manage airworthiness certification plans and documentation.
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing and QA to maintain airworthiness throughout the product lifecycle.
• Act as the primary technical contact for regulatory authorities regarding airworthiness matters.
• Conduct airworthiness assessments for new projects, modifications and in-service issues.
• Manage issuance and maintenance of Airworthiness Certificates.
• Lead and participate in audits conducted by regulatory bodies.
• Investigate and address airworthiness-related discrepancies or issues.
• Stay updated on evolving airworthiness regulations and industry best practices.
