Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aircraft Structures Engineer for our Mahikeng-based design and engineering team. You will lead structural design, analysis, and integrity assessments for new aircraft components and modifications, ensuring safety and compliance with aviation standards.

The position requires advanced degrees in aerospace or mechanical structures, 7+ years of aerospace experience, and strong FEA/CAD proficiency to mentor junior engineers and drive innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a structures focus.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in aircraft structural design and analysis.
• Proficiency in FEA software (NASTRAN, ANSYS) and CAD tools.
• In-depth knowledge of aircraft materials, composites, failure modes and damage tolerance.
• Strong understanding of aviation certification standards (FAR Part 25, CS 25).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of aircraft components and systems using FEA and other advanced modeling techniques.
• Perform stress, fatigue, and fracture mechanics analyses to ensure structural integrity under various loads.
• Develop and validate repair schemes for damaged structures per airworthiness directives.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and maintenance teams to ensure designs are producible and supportable.
• Oversee testing and certification of new structural designs and repairs.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers to foster technical excellence.
