Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for our aviation client in Johannesburg to lead line maintenance, perform inspections, diagnostics and repairs on a diverse fleet, and uphold airworthiness and safety standards.

You will mentor junior technicians, coordinate with operations, and respond to AOG scenarios, with opportunities for type-rating training and career development in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft line maintenance.
• Certified per EASA Part-66 and SA CAA for applicable aircraft types.
• Strong ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and avionics issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of aircraft systems.
• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections and document findings.
• Interpret manuals, drawings and maintenance procedures accurately.
• Mentor junior technicians and enforce safety protocols.
• Manage tool and equipment inventory and calibration.
• Respond to AOG situations and coordinate with operations to minimize delays.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting , and repair of aircraft systems and components.

• Interpret and utilize technical manuals, engineering drawings , and maintenance procedures accurately.
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on complex technical tasks and safety protocols.
• Manage and maintain an organized tool and equipment inventory , ensuring calibration and serviceability.
• Respond promptly to AOG (Aircraft On Ground) situations, coordinating with operations and engineering to minimize delays.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of hands‑on experience in aircraft line maintenance .
• Relevant aviation maintenance certifications (e.g., EASA Part-66, SA CAA Type Rating) for specific aircraft types operated by the airline.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems.
• Strong understanding of aviation regulations, safety standards, and documentation procedures.
