Kontak is seeking a Senior Accounting Associate for a remote-from-South-Africa role with a Dutch-headquartered international client in legal, finance and global payroll services. You’ll manage complex international books, close monthly and quarterly books, and handle VAT, ESL and CBS filings, while supporting Controllers and mentoring juniors.

The position offers an initial 12-month contract with potential to continue indefinitely, exposure to cross-border accounting, and opportunities to grow

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accountancy.
• SAIPA accreditation required.

The client is a fast-growing international legal, finance and global payroll services organisation headquartered in the Netherlands. The accounting team supports a diverse portfolio of international clients with accurate financial administration, reporting and statutory compliance across multiple countries and industries.

This Senior Accounting Associate role sits within a structured accounting team and focuses on maintaining accurate client books, managing month-end and quarter-end close, and preparing statutory and VAT-related filings. The position also supports Financial Controllers, helps guide junior team members, and offers exposure to complex cross-border accounting work with scope to grow into more senior client-facing responsibility.

You manage a portfolio of complex international clients and keep their books, records and reporting accurate and up to date. You close month-end and quarter-end processes, prepare financial reports, and complete VAT, ESL and CBS filings where required. You also draft statutory financial statements, support payment and invoice tasks, and keep clear time records. Alongside client work, you help Financial Controllers, guide Accounting Assistants, and share knowledge with newer team members. Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accountancy or equivalent
• Certified Accountant with SAIPA accreditation
• At least 3 years relevant work experience in a mid-sized accounting firm
• Responsible for a minimum of 15 clients
• Demonstrated experience drafting annual statutory financial statements
• Excellent verbal and written English
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with complex information
• Experience with accounting systems such as Exact Online, NetSuite or QuickBooks is advantageous
• Extensive knowledge of Excel
• Dutch language skills are advantageous

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and complete client books and records
• Carry out month-end and quarter-end closes
• Prepare financial reports for clients
• Prepare and file VAT, ESL and CBS returns
• Monitor client transactions for compliance with relevant legislation
• Draft annual statutory financial statements for filing with the Trade Registry
• Support clients with payments and sales invoice creation
• Help clients streamline accounting processes
• Communicate with foreign and domestic clients and third parties
• Keep accurate time records in the time registration system
• Provide administrative support to Financial Controllers
• Guide and monitor the work of Accounting Assistants
• Work with other teams to gather information relevant to client situations
• Support process improvements and flag bottlenecks for discussion
