Placements24 is seeking a Senior 3D Environment Artist for a Sandton-based game studio. You will model, texture, and assemble immersive environments, collaborating with the art director to define the game's visual style.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in game environments, a strong portfolio, and proficiency in Maya/3ds Max/Blender, Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop, plus Unreal Engine or Unity. Hybrid work and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a 3D Environment Artist in the game industry.
• Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality environmental art assets and scene composition.
• Proficiency in Maya, 3ds Max or Blender.
• Experience with Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Knowledge of photogrammetry techniques is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality 3D models of environments, props, and architectural elements.
• Develop realistic or stylized textures using PBR workflows.
• Assemble and dress detailed game environments using industry-standard engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Collaborate with concept artists and art directors to define environmental aesthetics.
• Optimize environment assets for performance and memory usage.
• Work with lighting artists to create atmospheric and visually appealing scenes.
• Ensure consistency in art style and quality across all environmental assets.
• Contribute to the development of environment art pipelines and best practices.
• Mentor junior environment artists and provide constructive feedback.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in 3D environment art.
