Job summary

Placements24 in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa, seeks a Senior 3D Generalist & Environment Artist to shape immersive game worlds. You will model, texture, light, and polish environments across pipelines, ensuring performance budgets and artistic direction.

You will collaborate with level designers and art directors, mentor juniors, and push visual fidelity using Maya/Blender/Unreal/Unity. A BA in Game Art or equivalent experience is required; a strong portfolio of shipped titles is ideal.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional experience as a 3D Artist specializing in environments with shipped titles or equivalent projects.
• Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software and game engines.
• Strong understanding of PBR workflows, modular asset creation, and environment optimization.
• Excellent eye for composition, color theory, and architectural design.

Responsibilities

• Model, texture, and assemble high-quality 3D environment assets and architectural elements.
• Light environments within Unreal Engine or Unity, ensuring visual coherence and performance.
• Develop workflows and asset pipelines for environment art creation.
• Collaborate with level designers and art directors to meet game targets.
• Create concept art and mood boards to establish visual style for environments.
• Optimize environment assets for multiple platforms and troubleshoot issues.
• Mentor junior environment artists.
