Job summary

SA Metal Group is seeking a Security Officer at the Elandsfontein Branch to safeguard people and assets across SA Metal premises. The role focuses on controlled access, patrols, and incident reporting, with adherence to company policies.

Qualifying experience includes 2–3 years of relevant security work and Grade 12, with a professional, proactive approach and willingness to work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Ensure access and egress control at SA Metal properties by completing registers and operating gates.
• Search pedestrians, vehicles and personal belongings exiting SA Metal premises.
• Issue PPE to customers and visitors and ensure PPE is returned after visits.
• Ensure all items leaving SA Metal premises have appropriate documentation.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures; conduct breathalyzer tests if required.
• Patrol assigned areas at regular intervals and report any anomalies.
• Observe and report suspicious activities and keep the Incident Report Book up to date.
• Manage containers/bins as required and protect SA Metal property and assets.
• Perform ad-hoc tasks as directed by management.

The Security Department requires Security Officers at the Elandsfontein Branch who will be responsible for the below security tasks:

Ensure access and egress is controlled at all SA Metal properties by completing the necessary registers and operating the gates.

Searching pedestrians, vehicles and personal belongings of any person(s) exiting SA Metal premises.

Ensure that all customers and visitors are issued with PPE when entering a SA Metal yard and that the PPE is returned after their visit

Ensure that any item(s) leaving the SA Metal premises is accompanied by the relevant documentation

Ensure that all company procedures are adhered to before granting access to staff and visitors e.g. breathalyzer tests are conducted and passed.

Ensure that all the assigned areas are patrolled at regular intervals.

Ensure that all Company policies and procedures are fully adhered to at all times.

Observe and report suspicious activities.

Keep the Incident Report Book up to date.

Ensure that empty and full Containers/Bins are booked in and out and secured

Ensure that SA Metal’s property and assets are protected

Ensure that all persons on SA Metal premises are protected

Ad-hoc tasks as per instruction from management

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

Grade 12

2 to 3 years relevant experience
